Constructing Crisis Care: Lessons from the Development of a Crisis Receiving Center

Clear Pathways: A Clear Path to Person-Centered Help for Adults Experiencing Behavioral Health Crises

Clear Pathways is an initiative of Peg’s Foundation designed to sustainably align systems for improved care to individuals experiencing a behavioral health emergency.

What We Do

Clear Pathways catalyzes efforts throughout Ohio to build sustainable and scalable behavioral health emergency response systems that meet the needs of adults.

Leveraging private, public, and philanthropic partnerships, we serve as a strategic navigator for state and local systems. We accelerate work to drive sustainable and scalable behavioral health emergency response systems to reduce the use of jails and emergency departments as the default response.

Why We Do This Work.
Explore Our Foundations.

Our Mission

We want to assist partners to accelerate implementation of best practice crisis response to reduce reliance on jails and hospitals, ensuring adults in behavioral health crises have a clear path to getting person-centered help.

Our vision

Our vision is for people experiencing behavioral health crises to have a path to help, across Ohio and the nation.

Our Values

We are guided by principles and aspirations grounded in an orientation to recovery, data, quality, equity, community, collaboration, scalability, and putting people first.

How are we helping. Changing the narrative of mental health.

Clear Pathways focuses on a systems-change approach that is measurable, accountable, and sustainable. We transform systems using four key strategies.

Statewide Field Building

Building relationships and facilitating engagement, we create a shared language and co-develop a vision with Ohio communities.

Prototype Sites

We activate our pilot work statewide in representative local jurisdictions to model successful systems change.

Financing Policies

We provide insight to policymakers for improved financing and payment policies for crisis response services.

Measurement & Evaluation

We aim to measure and evaluate the impact of these systems change efforts across all levels of crisis response services.

The behavioral health crisis response system should offer people:
